Analysis should release an experience that grips us or falls upon us from above, an experience that has substance and body such as those things which occurred to the ancients. If I were going to symbolize it I would choose the Annunciation.

In Search of the Holy Grail with Robert Johnson
January 4, 7:30 p.m.,
MPBC Cornwell Center

Jungian Analyst Robert A. Johnson explores the medieval myth of Parsifal and His Search for the Holy Grail. He approaches this archetypal story as if it were an informative, collective dream that has much to teach us about the modern masculine hero. Among the issues considered in this 1991 film: the Story of Parsifal, the Grail Story and Modern Man, the modern ego, initiation rites, the mother complex, the power of dreams, aloneness, teachers, transitions, the meaning of suffering, enlightenment and visions of God.

Robert Johnson is a reknowned master of the interior human language. He honors a deep healing tradition learned in part while in Zurich working with Carl Jung. A devoted healer and teacher, much of his knowledge of the psyche has been recorded in his classic Jungian books, which have reached millions of people around the world. The titles include “Inner Work”, “The Fisher King and the Handless Maiden”, “He”, “She”, “We”, and his 1998 memoir “Balancing Heaven and Earth”. Dr. Johnson retired from leading retreats and other public forums several years ago, and today lives close to the ocean near San Diego, CA.

Join us for this rich 54 minute film, to be followed by discussion. This event is free and open to the public.
