Sacred Intuition: The Language of the Mystery
Friday Lecture, Febuary 22, 7:30 p.m.
Saturday Workshop, Febuary 23, 9:30 a.m.– 4 p.m.

Casualties result when living in a culture that has been primarily patriarchal and scientific. Misguided social and cultural values that deride or dismiss the instinctual are everywhere, and their effect is pernicious. The instinctual is a means for us to listen closely to the whisperings of the deepest part of our being. We can reach all our ego-driven goals, and yet know that something important is still missing. A deep yearning may stem from a neglect of our most essential values. In exploring our dynamic essence, we may discover that we don’t care a whit about an antiseptically clean kitchen floor, a perfect yard, or the latest fashion. Female roles and tasks are not always conducive to a full expression of the deep feminine.

Our society today is ridden with anxiety, agitation, and fear. And while the external causes are many, much of these feelings are present within us because they bear a message. At such a time, our family and friends may denigrate our symptoms as “emotional” or “irrational” (code words for “female”) and expect us to get some pills from a physician to resolve the matter. In reality, our bodymind may be jarring us with raw emotions or illness because we allowed a deeply held intuitive truth to be blocked or denied.

Yet following such deep inner truths is not always easy. We are torn between the desire to realign to a new path of growth and wholeness, and the incessant calls to maintain the long-standing status quo. The resultant tension can be hard to bear. Yet if we pause, turn inward and ask—“What do I want? How does my body feel? What are my dreams saying to me?” — then we are moving in the direction of an embodied wisdom that is our natural inheritance.

In Saturday’s workshop, Paula will share with us an overview of the little-known history of the roots of intuition. She will take us into movement and exercises that will awaken our own personal intuition. Please bring a hand mirror, your journal, a piece of dark fabric large enough to cover your entire face, and an open inquiring heart.
